Office of Energy Planning & Conservation
The Office is primarily responsible for the provision of policy advice on energy issues to the Tasmanian Government. The office also: represents the jurisdiction on a range of policy investigations and procedural matters; is actively involved in implementing changes to the legislative framework, which regulates the Tasmanian energy sector; has a role in planning preparedness for energy supply emergencies; and the delivery of Commonwealth programs providing rebates for the uptake of renewable energy.
The Office is currently involved in a number of state and national projects including:
- National Energy Market Reforms;
- Roll-out of the Natural Gas Project in Tasmania;
- Managing the Remote Renewable Power Generation Program;
- Energy Planning – supply and demand analysis;
- Energy Emergency Planning; and
- Implementation of the National Framework for Energy Efficiency.
