Tamar Valley Power Station
The Tamar Valley Power Station was officially opened on Monday, October 26th. The power station's output equates to about 14% of Tasmania’s total generation capacity.
The Tamar Valley Power Station is capable of producing 390MW of electricity, comprising three generating units - a 210MW Mitsubishi combined cycle unit, a 60MW Rolls Royce open cycle gas turbine and three Pratt and Whitney 40MW gas turbines.
The station uses low emission, efficient gas turbine technology, reducing our reliance on brown coal-generated electricity from the mainland and minimising the stress on Tasmania's Hydro storages.
