Renewable Energy Fund Successful Projects
The Assessment Panel for the Renewable Energy Fund met in July 2011, and reported to the Minister for Energy and Resources in August 2011 with its recommendations.
On 30 August 2011 the Minister announced that the following recipients and projects were successful in obtaining funding through the Renewable Energy Fund:
Furneaux Historical Research Association - Museum Solar Power and Promotion Project
This project will install a 6 kW photovoltaic (PV) system at the museum premises on Flinders Island (FI), and promote renewable energy to residents and visitors ($6,923).
Flinders Island Aboriginal Association Inc (FIAAI)
This project will install two 7.4 kW PV systems, conduct energy audits and install monitoring systems at the FIAAI bakery and Community Centre ($100,000).
King Island IGA & Liquor Plus
This project will install a 20 kW PV system at the King Island IGA Supermarket in Currie ($32,802).
Flinders Island Car Rentals
This project will replace the shuttle vehicle to Flinders Island Airport with an electric vehicle and a 5kW PV system to power it ($64,943).
Flinders Council
This project will install six 2.78 kW solar tracking PV panels at Flinders Island Airport ($60,000).
Kelp Industries Pty Ltd
This project will install a 20 kW PV system at the Kelp Industries building near Currie on King Island. ($33,828).
Mountain Seas
This project will install four 7.26 kW PV arrays, plus connection to new units at Mountain Seas tourist accommodation complex ($65,000).
Additional Information
Total funds allocated amount to $363,496.
There were several other projects assessed which did not receive funding, but which were considered worthy for consideration in a future round.
Round Two of the Renewable Energy Fund will be announced once the evaluation of Round One has taken place.
