Harness Racing
Involves 'standardbred' horses driven by a reinsman from a small cart (sulky) Races for horses referred to as 'trotters' or 'pacers' which are differentiated by their gait. No trotting races conducted in Tasmania. Term 'standardbred' comes from the strict control of the breeding of the horses. Sixth most popular spectator sport in Australia.
